Meet Dione
Welcome to my practice!
I am Dione Rábago (she/her), a Filipina American Clinical Social Worker, licensed in Washington State and California, with over 20 years experience and expertise in Mental Health. I have helped people in a variety of settings, including clinics, hospitals and community programs, having served as a Psychotherapist and a Medical, Hospice and NICU Social Worker. I also worked in Social Welfare Policy, on various Program Development teams and as a Community Organizer for immigration reform. I am a certified Mindfulness teacher, with a nearly 30 year personal Insight (Vipassana) meditation practice. I am also a trained musician, an NYU scholar, an International House NYC alumna, gluten free foodie and Reiki Master. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and now live in Southwest Washington State, with my super sweet, 8 year old Australian Shepherd, Jack.
VALUES AND THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
-
… that each human being deserves the chance to make changes, regardless of what has transpired in their lives, with dignity and respect, with the compassionate, collaborative support from a Therapist who is non-judgmental and culturally competent.
-
… empowering people who are ready to address and set aside barriers that keep them from achieving their biggest goals and dreams, by providing expert guidance along the journey toward self-discovery and healing.
-
… there is no shame in exploring who you are and gaining a deeper understanding of your identity - gender, sexuality, values, faith and spirituality, culture and race.
-
… meet you where you are, just as you are, in this moment. And to let you know that your lived experience is valid and important.
-
There is no greater gift you can give yourself than the freedom that comes with living in alignment with your values and your truth - in mind, body and soul. Therapy is an investment in time and resources. Together, we will develop a treatment plan that makes sense for your life and your future. There are many assessments and tools that I will use to help you track the progress you will be making along the way.
-
My style is collaborative, conversational, empathetic, at times instructional, yet direct. This is YOUR time and journey. And while my job is to listen and hear you, and help you with creating a path through the challenges you are facing, I am not here to offer rainbows and butterflies, nor sugarcoat things. Rather, I will guide you, with transparency and proven interventions, through even the toughest parts of this path, as this is all part of the journey.

As an independently Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the NASW Code of Ethics and my state Licenses require I practice with cultural competence and cultural humility. I practice with equity by identifying and eliminating the structural barriers related to race, class, disability, and gender. I offer expertise in intersectional sociocultural trauma and a complex understanding of the institutional and societal context, along with culturally congruent clinical responses for effective therapeutic outcomes. I take an antiracist stand against racial hatred, bias, violence, systemic racism, and the oppression of specific groups on individual, interpersonal, institutional, and structural levels. And I practice cultural humility by applying critical reflection, self-awareness, and self-regulation, in consultation groups or clinical supervision, to manage the influence of bias, power, privilege, and values in working with clients and constituencies.
-
The results that come from our work together will be anchored in evidence-based, trauma-informed, strengths-based, client-centered care, expertly delivered with compassion, integrity and respect.
-
I acknowledge, with humility, that my physical office in the Southwest Washington Region, is the ancestral home of many indigenous peoples including the Cowlitz, Chinook, Klickitat, Yakima, Grand Ronde, Wasco and Wishram.
I also acknowledge that my physical office in the San Francisco Bay Area is the ancestral home of the Ohlone and Miwok peoples. I acknowledge the resilience of these nations at the hands of oppressive institutions, whose policies and practices aimed to erase the culture and language of their peoples and to forcibly remove them from their land.
I acknowledge I am part of this ongoing, oppressive system, and desire to contribute toward the restoration of dignity and integrity of the well being of my indigenous siblings in my communities.

I am not paneled with any insurance company or EAP plans. For some, not using insurance is a way to ensure privacy regarding medical and mental health choices they are making in their care. I will provide an invoice, known as a Superbill, with your diagnosis, if your insurance accepts out-of-network services. Please check with your insurance regarding out-of-network reimbursements to determine how much your insurance can cover and how much you will pay, as this varies by insurance company and plans.
I accept credit and debit cards on my Clinician Page on TherapyNotes. For those who need another form of payment, please let me know at Consultation.

I practice to the best of my ability under the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics and at the top of the scope of my licenses in California and Washington.
